11 Fallen Trees within 8 hours in Denpasar

There are 11 fallen trees recorded since at 05.30 until 13.40 WITA, Sunday 20 December 2015. But there were no victims in this accident. There are fallen trees which are in Jalan By Pass ngurah Rai, Jalan Drupadi, Jalan Tukad Yeh Aya, Jalan Veteran, Jalan Pulau Galang, JAlan WR Supratman, Jalan Mataram, Jalan Tukad Citarum, Jalan Letda Winda, and in around Setra Badung and also in Sidakarya area.

For all pedestrians in Denpasar street and every people in Denpasar, The Head of Landscape Field, Eka Jayana wished that people should keep aware in this rainy season, because there will be fallen trees sometimes on the road or in some places. “Please avoid taking shelter or parking under the tree during rainy season” He said.

Meanwhile, Regional Disaster Management Agency of Bali Province is planning to build Tsunami Early Warning System in the southern part of Bali Island. The existence of Bali Sea that located in Euro-Asia slab which is same like in Aceh become a supporting reason that early detection related to vulnerability of Tsunami in Bali is needed.

The Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency of Bali said, related to the prevention process of disaster in Bali, his management is planning to add Tsunami Early Warning System to anticipate Tsunami that can occur anytime.

“Currently we have had 9 units of Tsunami Detector that divided in Tabanan (Tanah Lot, Serangan, Mertasari (Sanur), Tanjung Benoa, BTDC (Nusa Dua), Kedonganan, Kuta, Seminyak, and Seririt. We planned to add detector equipment in order to early detection related to Tsunami prevention in Bali.” Dewa Indra said.

Dewa Indra said that there are 9 units of Tsunami Warning Detector which bought by Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Council (BMKG). From those 9 units of tower, there are only 6 units that has been given, while the other 3 units still owned by BMKG. While due to the distance between one detector and other detector is still far away, therefore BPBD will add 10 units more towers related that matter.
